At Purple Matrix, we’ve always taken pride in helping our clients retire their old hardware responsibly. When a laptop, phone, or tablet reaches the end of its working life with you, our ethical recycling service ensures every device is handled securely. We make sure your data is destroyed to the highest standard and materials are recycled in line with best environmental practice.
But sometimes, “end of life” for a business is really just “beginning of life” for someone else.
That’s why we’re excited to announce a new partnership with M Corporation, an organisation that has been supporting communities across Ukraine since 2014. Their work is wide-ranging and deeply personal, providing systematic support to vulnerable families, elderly people living alone, military personnel, and medical workers, many of whom have had their lives upended by the ongoing crisis.
What’s changing?
From now on, clients retiring digital devices with Purple Matrix will have a new option alongside our standard recycling service: donation instead of disposal.
Any tablets, smartphones, laptops, or other digital devices you no longer need can now be redirected to M Corporation, who will ensure they reach people who genuinely cannot afford such equipment themselves: whether that’s a medical worker needing reliable communication, an elderly person staying connected to family, or a family rebuilding their lives after displacement.
Of course, our traditional recycling route isn’t going anywhere. If donation isn’t the right fit for a particular device or client, full ethical recycling, with the same secure data destruction you already trust, remains available exactly as before.
Security and transparency, still guaranteed
We know that handing over old hardware, even for a good cause, raises the same question every time: what happens to our data?
The answer doesn’t change. Every device that goes to M Corporation will still go through our secure data destruction process before it leaves our hands, just as it would be for standard recycling. Donating a device is not a shortcut around security; it’s simply a different destination for hardware that’s already been made safe.
M Corporation has also committed to full transparency and accountability in how devices are distributed. They provide clear reporting on where donated equipment ends up, who receives it, and the impact it has, so our clients can see, in real terms, where their old hardware has gone.
Why this matters to us
We’ve always believed that responsible recycling shouldn’t be the only option on the table. This partnership lets our clients turn hardware they no longer need into something that genuinely changes someone’s day-to-day life.
For a lot of businesses, retiring IT equipment is a routine, unremarkable task. This partnership is a chance to make it something more, without adding cost, complexity, or risk to the process our clients already trust.
How to get involved
If you’re a Purple Matrix client with devices due for retirement, just let a member of our team know you’d like to donate rather than recycle, and we’ll handle the secure data destruction and safe onward transit to M Corporation.
